Skipinnish are the celebrated Celtic rock band. Coming to Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on 5th December 2026.

Formed in 1999 by accordionist Angus MacPhail and piper Andrew Stevenson while students at the then Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, the band drew deeply on their roots in the Highlands and the islands — their name even nods to Angus’s upbringing on Tiree.

Their catalogue, from the self-titled debut Skipinnish (2001) through to Steer By The Stars (2019), charts a steady evolution from ceilidh-pipe sets to full-blooded Celtic-rock epics. Signature songs such as ‘Walking on the Waves’, ‘Alive’ and ‘The Island’ have become anthems in pubs and stadiums alike.

Fronted since 2016 by vocalist Norrie MacIver, Skipinnish have twice taken the “Live Act of the Year” accolade at the Scots Trad Music Awards — a rare feat that underscores their fierce live reputation. Their 25-year voyage, celebrated in 2024 with headlining gigs at Bught Park, Inverness and Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, confirmed their ascent from wild-eyed pub providers to national icons.
