The King’s Theatre in Glasgow is renowned for its long-running and much-loved pantomime tradition, which has become a central part of the city’s festive entertainment. Pantomimes have been staged at the theatre since the mid-1960s, with an annual run established from 1971 onwards, making it one of Scotland’s most consistent seasonal productions.
The theatre’s pantos are particularly noted for their distinctly Scottish humour and strong links to local talent. Over the years, they have featured some of Scotland’s most famous performers, including Stanley Baxter, Gerard Kelly, Elaine C Smith and Karen Dunbar, many of whom became closely associated with the venue.
