Scottish Opera – Turandot
Location: Theatre Royal
Scottish Opera presents Turandot, a new production of the beloved opera. Coming to Glasgow’s Theatre Royal throughout October and November 2026.
A new co-production with Irish National Opera An Emperor’s court decays around him; a princess, haunted by inherited trauma, plays a deadly game of riddles; a visiting prince takes one look and decides to risk his life for love. The stakes could not be higher.
World-renowned Scottish director Sir David McVicar brings his visionary storytelling to bear on Puccini’s epic, final opera in this, its centenary year. Reuniting with the creative team behind 2023’s award-winning Il trittico, McVicar confronts the darkness of the work head on, neither flinching from Turandot’s trauma nor excusing Prince Calaf’s recklessness. Instead, he uncovers a deeply moving tale of two lost souls trapped between fear and desire, until compassion and courage change everything.
