James Marriott embarks on UK tour in support of third studio album, Warning Signs. Coming to Glasgow’s Barrowland on 27th, 29th and 30th March 2027.
James Marriott has announced his third full-length album, Warning Signs, a visceral, immersive record that sees one of the UK’s most compelling and unpredictable artists push his sound further than ever before.
The announcement came soon after James played a huge, sold-out headline show at O2 Academy Brixton – announcing the new album live onstage to fervent excitement both in the room and online – just as he did for the Brixton show during his Reading Festival set just two weeks prior to that. The show marked James’s biggest ever headline performance and yet another extraordinary milestone in an already remarkable ascent.
Warning Signs
Across its 11 tracks, Warning Signs charts the anticipation and the rush of new desires, through the dizzying heights of obsession, before tumbling headlong into the aftermath of a relationship ending. At the centre of it is James Marriott’s fascination with the split second when a song suddenly snaps into focus – the moment when everything clicks and “pop magic” happens.
Those moments are everywhere across Warning Signs. On lead single ‘Burn Down The Disco(Opens in new tab)’ – which this week was made a Track of The Week on BBC Radio 1 – cuts abruptly to silence on the words “momentary heart attack” before crashing back into life; while ‘Déjà Vu’ builds towards a bridge of enormous, blown-out guitar riffs. Jagged, Geese-inspired guitars tear through ‘Hell’, while ‘Five Year Plan’ builds towards a towering final release. Across the record, spitting fury, self-doubt and heartbreak are metabolised into something euphoric – an album that sounds as emotionally volatile as the story it tells.
The album’s concept originated with the hazard-style weather symbols used throughout the music video for Marriott’s 2026 UK Top 40 single ‘California Rain(Opens in new tab)’, which captured the strange blur of life on the road. Playing with those storm and flood icons “woke something up” in James, prompting him to imagine them as symbols for the contrasting emotional states explored throughout his music.
Extraordinary Momentum
Warning Signs was written and recorded during a period of extraordinary momentum. Following the UK Number 1 chart-topping success of his second album Don’t Tell The Dog and No.17-charting 2023 debut Are We There Yet?, he’s spent the past year performing to increasingly large audiences across the UK and internationally – appearing at Reading & Leeds, Latitude, Lollapalooza & Electric Picnic, while taking his headline shows across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia – where he will perform a near fully sold-out headline tour in October. He capped off an incredible year with two sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse, before returning to the studio to begin work on the album that would become Warning Signs.
Inspired by the risk-taking and radicalism of Magdalena Bay, Slayyyter, Charli xcx and Underscores, alongside the club-inflected shifts of Harry Styles and the steel-and-sugar pop of Dua Lipa, Marriott has created what he calls “anti-pop”: an introverted version of pop music, built around anthemic songwriting but viewed from the perspective of an outsider.
Yet the connection with his audience remains at the heart of Marriott’s story. That connection began long before the music. Originally building an audience online through chaotic pop-culture commentary, Marriott has since transformed that instinct for connection into a singular musical identity.. His audience now spans those who discovered him online and those who have found him through his music.
Warning Signs is James Marriott at his most engrossing: jagged, romantic, euphoric and emotionally unrestrained. An album about losing control that arrives from an artist who has never been more certain of who he is.
