Few artists have navigated the leap from bedroom-pop newcomer to major festival favourite as successfully as Beabadoobee.

Blending fuzzy ’90s-inspired guitars, diaristic songwriting and effortless pop instincts, the Filipino-British singer-songwriter has built a devoted global following through a string of acclaimed albums and viral hits. With a UK No. 1 album and tours alongside some of the world’s biggest artists, she has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in modern indie rock.

Born Beatrice Laus in the Philippines in 2000, Beabadoobee moved to London with her family at the age of three, and learned violin and guitar as a teenager. Though she was expelled from school for “misfit behaviour”, she quickly made her breakthrough in music in 2017 with the acoustic track ‘Coffee’, a song with lo-fi charm that introduced her gift for turning intimate moments into universally relatable music. The track found a new global audience when it was sampled on Canadian rapper Powfu’s viral hit ‘death bed (coffee for your head)’ in 2020, helping propel her from underground favourite to international name.

Signing to Dirty Hit in 2018, Laus quickly grew her fanbase through a run of acclaimed EPs including Patched Up, Loveworm and Space Cadet, establishing a sound that fused indie rock, shoegaze and alternative pop. Momentum built quickly in 2019, when she was named in NME’s Hot 100, made the BBC’s Sound of 2020 longlist and toured alongside Clairo.

Debut Album

Her debut studio album, Fake It Flowers, arrived in 2020 and marked a major breakthrough. Featuring the songs ‘Care’, ‘Sorry’ and ‘How Was Your Day?’, the album was praised for its raw emotion and grunge-inflected energy. As Exclaim! wrote, it found her “on the cusp of breaking into mainstream radio while remaining a budding rock star in her own right.”

Beabadoobee expanded her palette on 2022’s Beatopia, an ambitious and imaginative album inspired by a fantasy universe she created as a child after moving to the UK. Including fan favourite ‘The Perfect Pair’, the album showcased her growing confidence as a songwriter while collaborations with PinkPantheress and Matty Healy helped her nostalgic sound feel more poppy and playful.

Her third album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves (2024), represented another leap forward. Co-produced with legendary producer Rick Rubin, the album was influenced by turn-of-the-millennium alt. pop artists such as Fiona Apple, exploring themes of self-discovery, maturity and womanhood while retaining the melodic charm and guitar-driven sound that made her a standout artist in the first place. The record debuted at No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the first chart-topper of her career. In 2026 Laus released the single ‘All I Did Was Dream of You’ featuring The Marías, which balanced ethereal verses with moody, grungy choruses.
